About

Pinot Noir from Marsannay, the northernmost village of the Côte de Nuits, off parcels where most vines are fifty years or older. Fruit is hand-picked and hand-sorted, fully destemmed, cold-soaked for a week and fermented on indigenous yeasts, then bottled without filtration. The house style is ripe but structured — plum, cherry and pomegranate over spice, with tannins built to carry it for years. Serious village Burgundy from an address that still trades under the radar.

The Collotte parcels sit in the centre and south of Marsannay, many of them on the slope above the village. Underneath is Jurassic limestone, in places the crinoidal or Comblanchien kind, mixed with clay. The vines are planted tight at 8,000 to 11,000 per hectare, and the farming is HVE3 certified.

The 2024 season was cut short at flowering. Coulure thinned the bunches and Isabelle Collotte brought in about 30 hectolitres a hectare, small but sound fruit. The cold soak runs at 10 degrees before the ferment warms up on its own. Extraction starts with foot treading and eases to gentle pump-overs midway. The village wine then spends ten months split half in vat and half in barrel.

The domaine suggests five to seven years in the cellar. Serve it around 16 degrees with grilled red meat or a board of cured meats.

Producer note

Philippe Collotte bottled the family's first wine under its own name in 1981 at sixteen, after four generations of Collottes had grown grapes in Marsannay. Daughter Isabelle joined in 2013, and the domaine now farms 17 hectares across Marsannay, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, avoiding chemical herbicides and fermenting only on indigenous yeasts.
