About
Chardonnay off terra rossa soils over limestone across the Limestone Coast, where cool maritime influence keeps the fruit naturally fresh. Fermented in stainless steel to hold purity and vibrancy, with a small portion matured briefly in French oak — the label's rule is no acidification and only real barrels for any oak work. Citrus, white peach and gentle creamy notes finish bright and clean; easy to enjoy yet nicely balanced.
The 2025 season ran cool across the Limestone Coast, so the fruit hung longer on the vine. That extended ripening is where the balance comes from, flavour concentration on one side and lively acidity on the other. It is also why the barrel share is kept small and short. The season shows, not the oak.
Keeda Zilm and Luke Broadbent make Mezzo alongside their day jobs at Vickery and St John's Road. The label is built for weeknights rather than the cellar. The Limestone Coast is a cool-to-moderate district. That moderation keeps this Chardonnay in the fresh camp rather than the buttery one.
Serve it cold, but pull it from the fridge twenty minutes before you pour so the peach shows. Grilled fish, a chicken schnitzel or a bowl of prawns all sit well beside it.
Producer note
Mezzo is a collaboration between Keeda Zim, chief winemaker and custodian of the iconic Vickery wines, and Luke Broadbent, head winemaker at St John's Road.
