About

Dave Fletcher is an Australian who settled in Barbaresco and makes his Nebbiolo in the village's old railway station. This is the straight Barbaresco: rose petal, red cherry and dried herbs over spice and tar, with fine tannin and bright acidity carrying a long savoury finish. Fermentation is spontaneous, ageing happens in barriques at least ten years old, and nothing is fined or filtered.

Dave Fletcher came to the Langhe from Australia for a harvest and stayed to make wine in Barbaresco. His cantina occupies the village's old railway station. This Nebbiolo ferments spontaneously, then rests in barriques that are at least ten years old. Nothing is fined or filtered before bottling.

Rose petal, red cherry and dried herbs lead into spice, tar and a long savoury finish. Fine tannin and bright acidity give it the structure to sit comfortably beside food. Try it with mushroom risotto, roast duck or slow-cooked beef. Give it air after opening, then serve it just below room temperature.

Producer note

Fletcher took an oenology degree in Adelaide, went to the Langhe for a harvest at Ceretto and stayed, eventually heading their red wine production. He and his wife bought Barbaresco's abandoned railway station and turned it into their cantina and home, and he caps his own production at 30,000 bottles a year.
