About
From Perlage, the certified-organic, B-Corp family winery of the Nardi brothers in Farra di Soligo, this DOC delle Venezie Pinot Grigio is natively fermented on skins in stainless steel — no oak — off alluvial and mineral-laced soils. Straw yellow with a faint coppery hue, it runs pear skin, elderflower, lemon peel and meadow grass over a bright, acid-driven palate whose energy and texture come from the skin time. Smart, snappy, saline drinking at a light 12%.
Perlage is based at Farra di Soligo in the Prosecco hills. This Pinot Grigio is drawn from the wider delle Venezie zone across Veneto and Friuli. The vines are about 20 years old on soils of alluvial origin, in open country where sunshine and sea breezes meet. It carries 4 grams of residual sugar, which reads as ripeness rather than sweetness.
The Nardi story starts after the war. Tiziano Nardi and Afra De Rosso decided farm chemicals were hurting the people on the land as much as the land itself. Their seven children founded Perlage in 1985 on that organic footing. In 2017 it became the first Italian winery certified as a B Corp.
The house notes lean tropical, melon and banana with a touch of honey, on a lively, acid-led palate with real persistence. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees with antipasti, risotto, fish or white meat.
Producer note
Perlage has farmed organically since the Nardi family's early conversion and is among Italy's first certified organic sparkling wineries, now also B-Corp certified and vegan-friendly.
