About
The classic Bordeaux blend in white. Sauvignon Blanc for fresh citrus, Sémillon for body and texture. Dry, food-friendly French white.
The label is La Tour Travers, named for the tower that stands over the Travers family vineyards in Entre-deux-Mers. The blend is 70 percent Sauvignon Blanc, 15 percent Sémillon and 15 percent Muscadelle, the third white grape of Bordeaux. The vines are around 25 years old.
The importer's note picks up citrus blossom, green melon and honeysuckle, then grassy, herbal notes behind them. On the palate it is melon, grapefruit and a mineral line, made for drinking rather than pondering. It is sealed under screwcap, so there is no cork to worry about.
Serve it cold, 8 to 10 degrees, straight from the fridge. Seafood is the obvious match. Goat's cheese, a salad or a light pasta also work. Drink it young.
