Farrside comes from a northeast-facing slope at the Farr estate in Geelong. Dark volcanic soils sit over limestone, and the cooler site is only a short distance from Sangreal. That position gives this Pinot Noir a deeper, more structured profile.
Wild yeast and up to half whole bunches shape the 2023 ferment. The wine spent eighteen months in French oak, including a substantial new-oak portion. Dark cherry, dried herbs and crushed rock lead into fine tannin and a savoury finish. Give it air before dinner, then serve with duck, mushroom pasta, or roast quail.
