The importer, World Wine Estates, describes it as classic savoury claret. Blackcurrant fruit sits over light herb and cigar box, and the palate is medium in weight with good fruit depth. That is the Bordeaux template, and this one follows it without fuss. It is ready to drink the day you buy it.
Bordeaux built its name on this pairing of grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon brings the frame and the blackcurrant, and Merlot fills the middle with softer plum fruit. The structure on our shelf tag comes from that partnership, not from ripeness or heavy oak.
Serve it a touch below room temperature with weeknight food. Sausages, a mushroom pie, a rare steak or a lamb chop all suit it. It does not need decanting, and it will not mind an hour open on the bench.
