About
Cherry, red berries, soft tannin — a genuine cool-climate Pinot at the entry tier.
The fruit for this one comes from Lenswood, one of the four Adelaide Hills sites the Bartsch family farms. The vineyards run carbon neutral on solar power, organic compost, permanent cover crops and winter grazing, and hold Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certification. In the winery the wine is made with minimal additions and little filtration, and it is vegan friendly.
Tim Bartsch and Mark Bulman met at high school in the Hills and went through university together. Bartsch went into growing grapes for the region's better wineries, Bulman into winemaking around Australia and overseas. Emmalene is a name that turns up in both family trees, and it means a peaceful home.
At 13 percent it is light enough to take a short chill. Think barbecue evenings rather than a long winter braise.
