About

Boutinot builds this from the top down: fruit from named Côtes du Rhône Villages growers, enriched with parcels from the well-regarded villages of Séguret and Sablet. It is 80% Grenache Noir and 20% Syrah, fermented mostly in stainless steel, with a small portion aged up to 20 months in older French oak for depth. Brambly dark fruit and crunchy wild berry are underpinned by warm star anise and a touch of cinnamon — medium-bodied, smooth and beautifully spiced, with the oak kept firmly in the background.

Les Coteaux draws Grenache Noir and Syrah from growers across named Côtes du Rhône Villages. Boutinot also selects parcels from Sablet and Séguret. The blend is mostly Grenache, with Syrah providing the darker, firmer edge.

Most of the wine matures in stainless steel. A smaller portion spends time in mostly older French oak, giving depth without a heavy wood flavour. Brambly fruit, star anise and cinnamon make this an easy red for hearty food. The warm southern Rhône character suits a long lunch as well as a weeknight supper. Open it with grilled meat, sausages and mash, lentils, mushroom ragù, or a good pizza.

Producer note

Boutinot's stated philosophy is to make the best Côtes du Rhône Villages possible, sourcing from growers with exceptional terroir and reserving the right to reject parcels that fall short in any year.
