This Grenache and Mataro comes from Yangarra Estate in Upper Blewitt Springs. The biodynamically farmed site sits on the sandy upper ridges of McLaren Vale's eastern flank. Grenache makes up seventy percent of the blend, with Mataro supplying the remainder.
Both parcels were hand-picked on the same day, destemmed and co-fermented with wild yeast in an open fermenter. The wine then spent fifteen months in older French puncheons. Red berry fruit meets Mataro's savoury spice and fine tannin. Serve it lightly cool with charred lamb, grilled sausages, or a tray of roasted vegetables.
