About
Pale southern-French rosé blending Grenache and Cinsault, fermented in tank to keep it crisp and dry. The 2023 is aromatic without being showy: redcurrant and citrus over a hint of Provençal herbs, light on its feet with clean mineral drive. It delivers the floral lift and red-fruit freshness of a Provence rosé from vineyards outside the Provence AOP.
L'Olibet is a Boutinot wine, made by the négociant house rather than a single family domaine. Two Australian retailers put the fruit in the Vallée de l'Aude, in the foothills of the Pyrenees near the Spanish border. That is the south-western end of the Languedoc, a long way from the Provence coast the style borrows its name from.
The winemaking is simple on purpose. Grenache and Cinsault go into stainless steel tank and stay there, so nothing gets between the fruit and the glass.
Boutinot pitches it for summer lunches, picnics and the aperitif hour, and that is exactly where it belongs. Serve it cold and drink it young. Le Pont puts the window out to 2028, but there is no reason to wait.
