The Best Lot makes a single wine, every vintage: Malbec, sourced from whichever parcels across South Australia the winemaker judges the strongest that year, regardless of region. Malbec is notoriously inconsistent to grow, so the exact vineyards behind the blend can shift year to year rather than coming from one fixed site. This release is made in small hand-crafted quantities with minimal sulphite additions.
The Best Lot makes one wine only, and each release starts with a search for the strongest Malbec parcels available in South Australia. The vineyards can change from year to year, rather than being tied to one fixed site. That flexibility matters with a variety known for uneven results across different places.
The wine is made in small quantities with minimal sulphite additions. Its Malbec focus makes it a natural partner for flame-grilled beef, smoky sausages or a rich vegetarian pie. Decant it briefly if the bottle has been closed up. Then pour it at the table with food that can meet its dark-fruited shape.
