Walcher Rondo Spritz

Orange peel and herbal notes with soft bitterness and easy drinkability. Perfect summer-afternoon spritz.

Rondò starts with rhubarb. Gentian, rhubarb and wormwood steep for a month in organic neutral wheat spirit. The botanicals are then removed and the extract is blended with organic cane sugar, Sicilian lemon juice and elderberry extract. Nothing artificial goes in for flavour or colour, and it sits at 15% alcohol.

The Walcher family have farmed their corner of South Tyrol for nine generations and have distilled there since 1966. The distillery is in Appiano, in the province of Bolzano in Alto Adige. The house works with sun-ripened local fruit and holds organic certification.

Walcher describes it as elegant, fruity and gently bitter, and made for a Veneziano spritz. Pour it over ice with prosecco and a splash of soda, and add a slice of orange.
